This second generation of this device is actually unique and different. The company has brought lots of new features to this device.
The LED lights on the back of the device add another dimension to this device that isn’t available with other devices, It also brings internal new changes that make the device even more unique.
The design of the device is truly impressive. The back of the device is nearly transparent, making the device look so beautiful.
This is the Nothing Phone (2), and in this review I’ll discuss its specs and features.
With this device, the company is trying to bring something different and new to the market. They try to be more close to the users.
The company succeeded with their first device and their 2 headphones.
They managed to sell more than 1 million device with the first version of this device. The company is doing something different with their devices.
I visited their HQ in London, and it felt like a family, not a company. Which is something really great.
This is the Nothing Phone (2);
The frame of the device is made from 100% recycled aluminium. The back is made from curved glass.
There’s also a camera modular with
two circles to house the rear cameras.
The front is mostly a screen with a punch hole to house the front facing camera.
The design of the frame of the device is similar to that of another popular device. The device feels great in the hand.
I’ll discuss the Glyph on the back later in this review, However, this Glyph adds a beautiful aesthetic to the device. The device comes with a 6.7″ flexible OLED LTPO Display.
The screen is protected with a CGG layer. The resolution of the screen is 2412×1080. It supports up to 1600 nits of brightness, it supports HDR10+ and comes with 394 ppi density, and it supports 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sensitivity.
The device comes with stereo speakers, and after experiencing with it, the audio it produces is great.
This is a test to show how the speakers on this device perform. The device comes with the SD 8+ Gen 1 CPU built using 4nm architecture. The GPU is the Adreno 730.
However, how does this device perform? 🤔
In Geekbench 6, the CPU scored 1739 points forthe single core and 4566 points for multicores. PUBG game started with the high settings and 60fps. Even though the device is capable of 120fps, PUBG itself doesn’t support more 60fps on this device.
Hopefully, the game will support this feature soon. Both rear cameras are 50MP; one is Wide from Sony and the other is Ultra Wide.
This means that the performance of the cameras are light withdrawal is great, but let me discuss my experience with them.
The front facing camera is 32MP. The main camera provides excellent performance and light withdrawal. Color saturation is way better than the first version of the device. The Ultra Wide camera provides warm colors.
In general, the performance of the Ultra Wide is very good. The device supports different cameras modes, one of which is the Macro Mode (4cm), which we’ve tested. It provided excellent performance, and here’s some samples of it.
We’ve also tried the Portrait mode, where it offered great isolation and over all performance.
The device supports digital zoom up 10, and it offers acceptable performance. With the Sony sensor, Night Mode offered very good results.
The device supports recording videos with 1080x60fps with excellent stabalization, it supports 4K@60fps as well.
The front facing camera offers bright and cold colors in most cases. Portrait photos were somehow good, and so is the isolation.
In general, the cameras do their job well. The experience of the software of the device, even the camera UI is really unique. The device has a unified design.
This is how the front facing camera performs on the Nothing Phone (2) device.
The device runs Android 13 with Nothing OS 2.0 on top it. The device fully supports Google services.
The UI brings lots of shortcuts and widgets that are exclusive for this device, according to Nothing.
The shortcuts allow the users to implement quick actions from the homepage.
These widgets provide a great experience, especially that they are monochrome. With these features, Nothing is trying to create and built their own identity.
Practically speaking, the glyph feature is amazing. With this glyph, sometimes, you won’t have to open the app.
Nothing confirmed that by the end of the year, there will be 49 shortcuts supported with the Glyph.
The device comes with either 8GB or 12GB, but our region will get he 12GB version. The storage will be 256GB or 512GB in our region, too.
Let’s now discuss the features of the rear Glyph. The device comes with more LEDs than the last version.
With the light of the Glyph, you’ll now the status of your order, the bigger the light, the sooner you’ll get the order.
You can see the progress of the Timer on the back of the device. You can customise the LED for a contact, so whenever they call, you’ll know that they’re calling from the LEDs.
You can also customise light for certain apps. The company has taken full advantages of the back of the device, which is honestly unique and different.
By the way, you can buy a cover for the deviceto protect it, while still showing the Glyph.
The Glyph adds another dimension to the device to make it unique and different. The device supports bluetooth 5.3. WiFi 6 and NFC. It supports dual sim cards, and comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen.
The performance of the fingerprint sensor is very good, it supports unlocking using the front facing camera, but I don’t advise using it as it doesn’t come with dedicated 3D sensors.
Unlike the last version, which came with 4500mAh battery, this new device comes with a 4700mAh battery.
It even now supports faster charging with 45W, which charges the battery from 0% to 100% in 55 minutes, it supports wireless charging with 15W
and reverse wireless charging with 5W.
The box includes the device, charger, transparent charging cable, an already installed screen protection and the sim tool.
The device comes with these beautiful black and white colors.
The device comes with two versions in the Arab World, and the price starts from 2799 SAR for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Pros:
The device brings something new and unique to the market. Nothing are developing themselves more and more. It also supports a great audio system.
The Glyph is unique and beautiful and will get more features with time. Also the overall design is beautiful.
Cons:
I wished that the device supported an external SD card and WiFi 6e. But considering the price of the device, the specs and features are balanced.
The device brings lots of competition to the market.
Let me know what do you think of this device❗️❗️🤪
I visited their HQ, and the company has a dedicated studio for audio. It was a great journey for me, where
I learned a lot about audio and Autotune.
This Autotune device helps the company create their own tunes, ringtones and audio files.
See you later.😉
