â Hello guys! These are two devices from Huawei: Nova 7 and Nova 7 SE! Both support 5G technology.
There is a price difference between them ?
But let’s find the difference in specs and features, This is a quick review of the Nova 7 and Nova 7 SE.
These two devices were released by Huawei lately, The device comes with an OLED 6.53\ » screen called Huawei Punch FullView display, It comes with a punch hole in the screen to house the front facing camera.
The device comes with 4 rear cameras. The first one is 64MP, the second and third are 8MP and the fourth is 2MP, The front facing camera is 32MP.
The camera come an LED flash, HDR support and 4K@30fps videos, These cameras provide good performance in portrait and front facing camera photos.
Here’s some samples, The device supports different photography modes. This device is from the high mid-range category and costs 1900 SAR.
No matter what phone you have, lighting is very important for photography and videography. This is s video sample of the the cameras.
The device comes with the Kirin 985 5G with 8 cores with 7nm build architecture.
In Geekbench 5, the CPU scored 649 points for the single core and 2437 points for multicores.
PUBG game starts with high settings, and the performance and graphics are acceptable.
The device comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. It supports dual SIM cards, but unfortunately, it doesn’t support and SD card.
The device runs Android 10 with Huawei’s EMUI 10.1 on top of it along with the App Gallery as it doesn’t support Google services.
Huawei’s UI is light, easy to use and supports gestures and dark mode.It supports side bar and multitasking.
Huawei is investing a lot in their App Gallery and are adding a lot of local and international apps to it. The device comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, and it performs really well.
It also supports unlocking using face recognition, but it doesn’t use dedicated sensors, and I don’t recommend using it.
It supports bluetooth 5.1 and NFC, and we tried it with Mada and it works really well.
It supports 5G network, and here’s an internet speed samples.
It doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but it has a USB-C port. The battery is 4000mAh, and it charges from 0% to 75% in 30 minutes using the 40w charger that comes in the box.
That’s a really great feature. The content of the box varies from a region to another, but in this case, it comes with the device, clear cover, charger, charging cable and 3.5mm headphone with a USB-C adapter.
Huawei Nova 7 comes in white, black and purple colors. It also comes with cool texture, And as I mentioned previously, it costs 1900 SAR.
Pros:
it comes with a beautiful screen with a high screen to body ratio. The CPU is good and it supports 5G network.
The battery is big and supports excellent charging capabilities.
Cons:
it is a bit disappointing that it doesn’t support a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It also doesn’t support an SD card, which some users might not like.
The build quality is normal to be honest, but the Nova series devices are known to offer good capabilities.
Let me now discuss the younger brother of this device:
the Nova 7 SE: The SE naming is interesting., It is similar to Apple’s naming.
This device comes with a 6.5\ » LTPS LCD screen with FHD resolution. The screen is called Punch FullView Display.
The device comes with 4 rear cameras too: the first is 64MP, the second is 8MP Ultra Wide, the third is 2MP Bokeh and the fourth is 2MP Macro.
The front facing camera is 16MP, which is less than the one found in the Nova 7 5G.
The cameras come with an LED flash, HDR support and shoot 4K@30fps videos.
The device provides a good performance in lots of modes, such as normal photography, ultra wide photos and Macro.
Here’s some samples of the cameras. Here’s a video sample of the device. Let me change my place to get better light.
Oh, the curtains block the sunlight. The CPU is the Kirin 820 5G with 8 cores and 7nm build architecture.
The GPU is the Mali G75.In Geekbench 5, the CPU scored 604 points for the single core and 2295 points for multicores.
The difference in single core and multicore performance between both devices isn’t that much, PUBG game started with high settings and the graphics is acceptable.
The performance, however, is less than the Nova 7, but it is still considered good.
The RAM is 8GB and the onboard storage is 128GB.It supports either 2 SIM cards OR an a SIM card and a Nano SD card.
The device runs Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 on top of it. The UI features are the same on the Nova 7.
The UI comes with the App Gallery, which comes with a lot of apps. It doesn’t support Google services. The device unlocks using the fingerprint sensor mounted on the side of the device.
The performance of the fingerprint sensor is very good. It also supports unlocking using face recognition, but I don’t recommend it as it doesn’t come with dedicated sensors.
The device supports bluetooth 5.1, but it doesn’t NFC. Mada Pay won’t work on this device.
The device supports 5G network and here’s a sample of internet speed using STC network.
The device comes with a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack, where the Nova 7 doesn’t come with.
The battery is 4000mAh, and it charges from 0% to 75% in 30 minutes using the 40w charger that comes in the box.
The content of the box varies from a region to another.
But in this version, the box contains the device, clear cover, charger, charging cable and a 3.5mm headphones. It comes with space white, purple and green colors.
Pros:
great price, it still supports 5G technology. It also supports expandable storage using the Nano SD card along with the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Cons:
the build quality is normal. If you want to buy one of these devices and use different paying methods, then the Nova 7 is the better choice.
But if you prefer an expandable storage and a 3.5mm headphone jack, then the SE version is the better choice as it is also cheaper. It is a bit strange.
For me, I think if the SE version supported NFC, it would be a great choice for this category.
