This is the most beautiful and most powerful devices from Huawei this year, It is the Mate 40 Prođ„đ
Let me introduce you to this device, Let’s start:
Hello guys, I felt a little tired after writing a comprehensive and accurate review for my PS5, so i am so happy to review this the Huawei Mate 40 Pro , And the answer to the question is it worth buying or not? đ
So, bring your tea or your coffee and let ‘s start, The device’s front and back are made from glass with a metal frame. The back of the device comes with a shiny mirror-like finish. And when you move the device, the colors change.
This color is the best color Huawei have released this year. These colors are similar to the rainbow colors, The back is curved and comes with a circle that houses the rear cameras.
Huawei calls this design Space Ring Camera, This time, the Mate 40 Pro comes with physical volume rocker buttons along with the virtual button on the other side.
The front comes with full screen with 88 degrees of curviness, The screen comes with a wide punch hole to house the front facing cameras.
The thickness of the Mate 40 Pro is 9.1mm and it weighs 212g, The device supports IP68 water and dust resistant, By the way, I’d like to compare this device with other competitors. What do you think?
With who should I compare this device? Let me know in the comment section, The device comes with the Huawei Kirin 9000 CPU, The CPU comes with 8 cores and for the first time, it is build on 5nm architecture.
The GPU is the Mali-G78, The GPU comes with 24 cores to process photos and graphics. The CPU also comes with an enhanced NPU, better the the one in the pervious version.
The device supports 5G technology,
We couldn’t install GeekBech5 app to test the CPU despite trying multiple times, But according to the GSM Arena tests, the CPU scored 1020 points for the single core, It also scored 3704 points for the multi-cores.
Here’s where the CPU performance is ranked among other competitors, PUBG games started with excellent smoothness with high settings and HDR enabled.
For sure, any type of game could work perfectly with high smoothness on this device, But I should conduct more tests on this device.
What do you think? Should I further test this device and discuss the design among other features?
Voice your opinion in the comment section, The Mate 40 Pro comes with a 4400mAh battery.
The battery supports fast charging with 66w using Huawei’s Super Charge technology, This technology fully charges the battery from 0% to 100% in 45 minutes only.
By the way, the charger that comes in the box, each country will get a compatible charger. The device also supports fast wireless charging with 50w using Huawei’s Super Charge technology.
But you need a 50w wireless charger for this functionality to work, The device also supports reverse wireless charging.
The screen size is 6.76 with 2772×1344 resolution, The resolution number is unfamiliar but still, the screen is FHD+.
The screen is OLED and Huawei calls is Horizon Display. The screen supports up to 16.7 million colors. Unfortunately, the screen only supports 90Hz. But the touch sensitivity is 240Hz.
To clarify, screen’s refresh rate makes the device smoother, while touch sensitivity makes the screen very responsive.
The Mate 40 Pro comes with rear cameras co-engineered with Leica, and they are as follows:
The main camera is 50MP, and comes with the RYYB sensors, which Huawei have released before, and in this case it is better, The second camera is the Ultra Wide 20 MP. Huawei calls it Ultra Wide Cine Camera, The third is the 12MP Telephoto lens.
There’s also a laser autofocus sensor to make autofocus faster and more accurate. There’s also dual front facing cameras. The main is 13MP and the second is a 3D sensor.
Let me now discuss the photography experiment, The main camera provides beautiful photos with excellent quality and details. The colors are saturated and a bit cold in some circumstances.
In genera, the photos taken with this camera are balanced. The Ultra Wide camera also provides excellent details and quality. The colors are a bit warm, and in some circumstances, the photos are very similar to the ones taken with the primary camera.
The device supports up to 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom, and both offer good results. It also supports up to 50x digital zoom. But the quality is a bit degraded as the zoom is digital.
Portrait photos offer good background isolation. But the results vary: sometimes they are excellent, and other times they are normal. But this depends on different circumstances.
Thats why you need enough light to capture portrait photos with great results. The sensors capture good light with Night photos. But sometimes, the details are less, especially when you zoom in. But in some circumstances, the quality of the results is excellent.
In general, night mode photos depend on different circumstances. Rear cameras support shooting videos with 4K@60fps. The results come with saturated and bit cold colors with good details. Shakiness level is also good.
The device also supports Steady Shot mode, which offers less shakiness. But it only works with videos shot with 1080p@30fps. The front facing camera offers good and satisfactory results with saturated colors. It also supports 100 degrees of view.
Portrait photos offer satisfactory background isolation, and the results are generally satisfactory. The device comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. It supports either 2 SIM cards or one SIM card and another Nano card.
The device runs Android 10 with EMUI 11 on top of it. It offers high smoothnesses and it is easy to use. The UI supports Sidebar for easier access to apps. It also supports Air Gestures.
This feature will enable to navigate apps, take screenshots with gestures without having to touch the screen. This feature works using the front facing sensor next to the front facing camera.
The device currently doesn’t support Google services. But it comes with Huawei’s App Gallery. Locals apps are being added to it all the device, and Huawei invests well with it.
It also supports Petal Search, which was developed for easier access to apps. You can search for different apps from official stores or third party websites.
The device comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. And after experimenting with it, it offers good responsiveness. It also supports unlocking using the face recognition 3D sensor next to the front facing camera.
It offers high speed and security. The device comes with stereo speakers and offers 3D audio. And after experimenting with it, it offers better sound quality than that of the Mate 30 Pro.
But it depends on the content itself. The device supports bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6+. But to benefit from WiFi 6, your router must also support it.
It also supports NFC and it is compatible with paying services such as Mada Pay. The box contains a clear cover, fast charger, charging cable and headphones.
Pros:đ
the device is made from high quality materials, and the design is beautiful, especially the circle that hours the rear cameras.
I wished instead of Leica’s logo, there was a Huawei logo in the middle, but that’s Huawei’s choice.
The camera performance is satisfactory, and it won’t disappoint you of you are after a detailed photography experience. This device also supports fast charging with 66w.
The charger comes int he box, and it fully charges the battery in 45 minutes.
Cons:đ©
I hoped for a higher refresh rate than 90Hz, Competitors have been using more than 90Hz with their devices.
I expected Huawei to added this feature to this device, but they haven’t. And for sure, if you want a full Google services support, then you should know that this device doesn’t fully support it.
But there are alternative ways to download Google apps. But the security of these apps raises concerns and questions.
The Mate 40 Pro is one of the most beautiful and powerful devices Huawei have released in 2020.
If Google services were supported, this device would win against lots of competitors. But ! this didn’t stop Huawei from making this device.
Still, Huawei have shown their huge potential with this device, Worth buying, but always check your needs and invest your money correctly.đ
See you in the next review.đȘ
