Hi guys, After going through a surgery, I am back again. I am excited to review this Motorola Edge 30 device. This device is from the mid-range category, but it competes with flagships. Before I begin the review of this device, I’ll discuss its pros and cons first.
Pros:
The design is beautiful and comfortable in the hand and its weight is excellent. The screen’s performance is satisfactory with 144Hz refresh rate. The cameras and photography performance is satisfactory. The audio system this device supports is better than most flagships.
Cons:
I wished it was made from better materials, although it supports water and dust resistant. It doesn’t support expandable storage. But the onboard storage is big enough for most users.
Is this summary of this device worth a regular visit your Tech magazine OTTO or not?
Let me now discuss my experiment with this device, The back of the device is made from tough plastic, but it gives the impression of glass. In the middle of the back, there’s a 3D Moto logo. And there’s a rectangular at the top left to house the rear cameras.
The front is mostly a screen with a punch hole to house the front facing camera. The device supports IP52. The thickness of the device is 6.79mm, which is excellent considering the specs of the device. It weighs 155g only, which is great and competitive. Due to its weight, the device is comfortable to use for extended periods of time.

The CPU is the Snapdragon 788G+ with 5G support. The CPU comes with 8 cores and is made using the 6nm architecture. The GPU is the Adreno 642L. In Geekbench 5, the CPU scored 828 points for the single core and 2888 points for multicores. there’s where the CPU performance is ranked among other competitors. PUBG game was smooth with the Extreme settings. It started with 60fps in most cases.
In general, the game performance was satisfactory. Up until now, the game only supports 60fps, but it could be updated in the future to support 144Hz. With higher refresh rate, the battery of the device drains faster.
The battery is 4020mAh with 33W fast charging support using the TurboPower technology. This technology charges the battery from 0% to 53% in 30 minutes. The screen is 6.5″ pOLED. It has a 20:9 aspect ratio.
The resolution is 2400×1080, and it supports 10-bit colors, which means it supports 1 billion colors. DCI-P3 is also supported, which offers more realistic colors. The screen also supports HDR10+, but to benefit from it, the content itself must support it.
The screen offers natural and saturated colors with high contrast. The black color is very good on this screen. The brightness is satisfactory as well. In general, the screen’s performance is satisfactory, and won’t disappoint you in most cases. But there’s something that I’d like to discuss about Motorola towards the end of this review. The screen supports 144Hz refresh rate. This means that navigating the device, playing supported games and apps is very smooth.
The device has 3 rear cameras and a single front facing camera cameras, and they are as follows: The main camera is 50MP with the Quad Pixel technology to help withdraw more light. The second is the 50MP Ultra Wide, which is also used for Macro photos. The third is the 2MP Depth sensor. The front facing camera is 32MP with Quad Pixel support as well. The main camera provides very good details and light withdrawal.
The colors are a bit warm, and the contrast is satisfactory. In general, the performance of the main camera won’t disappoint you. The Ultra Wide camera supports 118 degrees with good details. Color processing is similar to that of the main camera. The performance of this camera is satisfactory.
In portrait photos, the camera does a good job with isolation and light withdrawal. This ensures the best possible photo experiment. To make sure that you take good portrait photos, make sure to face a source of light. The device supports 10x digital zoom, and the photos will be a little bit pixelated. It also supports Macro photos using the Ultra Wide lens. The details will be good, especially in open places because of light.
The device supports recording 4K@30fps photos with good outcome. The outcome is stable, but sometimes it is shaky. It also supports 1080p@60fps with satisfactory results. The front facing camera provides warm colors with good details, despite the skin beautification. In portrait, the isolation will be satisfactory and won’t disappoint you. « We’re testing hydroponics plants in the office. »
The RAM is 8GB and the storage is 256GB. It supports dual sim cards, but it doesn’t support expandable storage. The device runs Android 12 with nearly a stock experience. The UI is light and simple to use. The UI is very customizable. It also supports lots of customizable shortcuts, such as twisting your hand to open the camera app. Shake the device to open the flashlight and flip the phone on the screen to activate don’t disturb mode.
The device fully supports Google services. The device supports a feature called Ready For, which allows it to wirelessly connect to an external screen with computer-like experience. When activated, the screen of the device will become a touchpad. The device supports bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6e, but to benefit from it, your router must support it as well. It also supports NFC to enable different payment methods such as STC Pay. The device comes with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
After experiment with it, the speakers offer great sound experience. The bass is good as well. In general, the audio experience is really good and won’ t disappoint you at all. The device comes with a responsive in-display fingerprint sensor. It unlocks using front facing camera, but it doesn’t have dedicated sensors, which makes it less safe. The box includes the device, clear cover, charging cable and the charger.
The device is officially available in our market, and it costs 452,65 USD. Motorola offers great hardware and software. Anyone who knows about technology knows that this device is great. I wonder why Motorola don’t market their products well.
The device is officially available in our region, Asia and Africa and considering its specs, the price is great. This is the end of this review guys.
