Review 154: 08.01.2022 at 09:00 pm
đ€Ą This is a beautiful device to start 2022 with. The device offers advanced camera and an excellent photography experienceâđž. It also comes with a modern design and a high refresh rate screen. It also comes with a battery that supports fast charging. Let me introduce you to the vivo X70 Pro, it is an elegant beast.
Before I start, let me remind you that I discuss the pros and cons of the device near the end of the review. Make sure to keep reading to find out whether this device is good for you, and dont forget you cup Coffee đ”
So, Most of the materials of this device are made from non-reflective glass. The back is curved, and depending on how the light hits it, the color changes from silver to blue. vivo calls this color Twilight Blue. There’s also the rectangular camera module. The main and ultra wide camera occupy most of the space in the module.
The front is mostly screen except for the punch hole that houses the front facing camera. The thickness of the device is 8.08mm. The thickness is satisfactory considering the specs. It weighs 184g. It is 1g lighter than the Cosmic Black version. The weight of the device is suitable and you won’t face problems using it with one hand.
The CPU is the Dimensity 1200 from MediaTek in cooperation with vivo. The CPU is built using the 6nm architecture and supports 5G networks. The GPU is the Mali-G77 MC9. Testing the performance of the device shows how powerful it is. In Geekbench 5, the CPU scored 872 points for the single core and 2879 points for multicores, the device’s performance is ranked among other competitors.
This is the first experiment for us, here in the office, in 2022. Let me know what other games should we test in these videosâ PUBG is more advanced now and supports HDR. Let me know what other games should I include. Let me know in the comment section down below.
We tested PUGB with HDR settings enabled, and the performance was smooth and, in most conditions, the frames were 60. I expect PUBG will release a new update to enable 120fps.
The device supports a feature called Multi Turbo, which enhances gaming performance by enabling pre-installed modes, such as the Performance Mode. This Performance Mode enables the device to offer the best performance while gaming. There’s another mode called Balance Mode, which offers the best combination of performance and battery saving.
The Low Power Mode enables the device to save battery so that it can last for longer gaming session. Multi Turbo also supports other feature such as enabling 4D vibration. It also supports E-Sports mode, which offers more control while gaming and other features. The battery is 4450mAh. It supports fast charging with 44W using vivo’s FlashCharge technology This technology allows the battery to charge from 0% to 60% in 30 minutes.
The screen is 6.56″ AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and HDR10+ support with supported content. The screen uses an E5 panel, which offers high brightness while using less battery consumption. After experimenting with it, the screen offers natural and saturated colors. The screen offers deep blacks and high contrast. In general, the screen is suitable for most use cases. It also supports 120Hz refresh rate, which makes it very smooth while navigating the device and gaming.
Vivo X70 Pro comes with 4 rear cameras in cooperation with Zeiss. These cameras are way more advanced than the X60 Pro cameras. These cameras provide higher quality photos with better light withdrawal. They also come with a Zeiss T* Coating layer. This layer will decrease reflections on the sensors.
The main camera is the 50MP Sony IMX766V. This sensor is supposed to gather more light and offer better focus. It is 4.6% better in gathering light than the IMX766. The camera also comes with a technology called Ultra Sensing Gimbal 3rd Gen. This technology offers high stability and doubles as a tripod.
The second camera is the Ultra Wide 12MP. The third is the Telephoto 12MP camera. The fourth is the Periscope Telephoto 8MP camera for better zooms. The front facing camera is 32MP Wide lens. These numbers mean nothing without experimenting them. The main camera provide excellent details and quality. Light withdrawal is satisfactory.
The colors are processed well, saturated and a bit warm. The Ultra Wide camera offers similar results to the main camera. But it is a bit like a fisheye perspective. The colors are a bit cold and the results in general are satisfactory. Portrait photos are very good.
Light withdrawal and isolation are satisfactory. As long as there is enough light, you’ll get satisfactory results. The device supports 5x optical zoom with excellent results using the first telephoto camera. It also supports 60x zoom using the periscope lens. The results are acceptable. Night photos are satisfactory with acceptable light withdrawal.
In general, the results are satisfactory. The device records 4K videos at 60fps. The quality and details are satisfactory. But the stabilization isn’t as good. Though, the device supports 2 different stabilization modes that offer satisfactory results. The first mode is the Standard with 4K@30fps resolution. The second is the Ultra mode with 1080p@60fps resolution. The front facing camera offers good and satisfactory results.
The colors are saturated with a little bit of skin beautification. Portrait photos are also satisfactory, and in general the front facing camera offers good results. To shoot the best selfie videos, make sure that you’re facing a light source. This applies to all other devices. The more light, the better the outcome. These camera tests have shown you whether this device is good for your or not.
Let me now discuss the other specs. The device comes with a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device also supports a technology called Extended RAM 2.0. This technology will utilize 4GB of the storage to become an extended RAM. This technology was first introduced on computers, but vivo was able to add it to their X70 Pro device.
The device also supports dual Nano SIM cards. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support an external SD card. The device runs Android 11 with the Funtouch OS 12 on top of it. The UI is light and easy to use. The UI looks similar to stock Android. vivo has been investing a lot in their UI to make it similar to the stock version.
The UI supports different gestures like swiping down with 3 fingers to take a screenshot or swiping up with 3 fingers to split the screen. The UI fully supports Google services. The device supports bluetooth 5.2, dual band WiFi and NFC to use for different payment methods like STC Pay. The device comes with an IR blaster to allow you to control your home appliances. The device comes with an under-the-display fingerprint sensor.
After experimenting with it, the sensors is responsive and fast. It also supports unlocking using the front facing camera, but it is not safe and I don’t advise using it. The box include the device, clear cover, fast charger, charging cable, 3.5mm headphones and 3.5mm to USB-C adapter.
The vivo X70 Pro is officially available in the all markets, and it costs 798 USD đșđČ.. There’s another lite version of this device called vivo X70, but I haven’t tested it. The company also announced a new in-ear headphones called vivo TWS 2 ANC, but I also haven’t tested it. If you like more details about this headphones, let me know.
Pros: đ
The design is beautiful, especially with this Twilight Blue color, and the materials used in it are high quality. The photography experience is excellent on this device, especially with this price category. Video stabilization is also excellent, especially with the added Gimbal technology. The screen supports high refresh rate with 120Hz. The CPU performance for daily tasks is very satisfactory.
Cons: đŠ
To benefit from the 120Hz screen, developers have to support their apps with it. Hopefully, it’ll be done soon. It is not a vivo problem, however. Not having an external SD card support might be a problem for some users. You’ll have to depend on the cloud storage and the device’s storage. This has been my review of this device from Vivo, which is the first review video for this year.
Let me know with which device should I compare this device withđ, that comes with a MediaTek CPU.
This is the end of this review, See you later.đâ
