Apple is increasing the number of their devices with their own Apple Silicon SoC. But for the first time, we get a new MacBook Air with a 15″ screen. Let me introduce you to this new device 🍏
Hi guys, The new MacBook Air comes with a bigger than usual screen. It has a 15.3″ screen.
The Air category comes with a balanced specs and features, especially with the Apple M2 CPU.
Let me first introduce you to the device in general, and then I’ll discuss my point of view about this device.
Who is the target for this device? 🤔🤔🤔
The new MacBook Air 15″ comes with a Liquid Retina screen. The screen offers great resolution and performance.
There’s two versions of this device; the 13 version and the 15″ version. Both of them come with the M2 CPU. The MacBook Air with the M2 CPU is 1.4x faster than the MacBook Air with the M1.
This could be a great option for some users.
However, it is not suitable for most users. If you haven’t already invested in the M1 MacBook Air, then it could suitable for you to invest in the M2 version. But if you already have the M1 version, then there’s no need to buy this version. Unless you’re looking for the new 15″ size.
As well as the battery, since both the 13 and 15″ versions with the M2 have a battery that lasts for 18 hours. The device is thin and light, similar to the older MacBook Air laptops. It weighs around 1.5kg, and it comes with a fingerprint sensor, which is embedded in the power button.
The device is made from recycled aluminium. The frame of the device is tough, yet it is lightweight. It comes with 4 colors: midnight, starlight, space gret and silver. The thickness of the device is 11.5mm. It is the thinnest 15″ laptop form Apple. The width of the device is about 34cm. And the length is 23cm, It weighs 1.5kg.
The screen that comes with this device provides a balanced performance. It is a 15″ Liquid Retina Display. It has 2880×1864 resolution. It has 224ppi density. It supports up to 1 billion colors and has a 500 nits brightness. It supports P3 colors. And as I mentioned before, it comes with the M2 CPU.
The CPU comes with 8 cores, 4 for proficiency and 4 for performance. I already discussed the specs of this CPU in a previous article. It also has 10 core GPU and 16 core neural engine. It supports data transfer with 100Gbps. You can adjust the RAM size from Apple’s website.
In Geekbench 6, the CPU scored 2582 points for the single core and 10020 points for multicores. Here’s how the CPU performs compared to the 13″ MacBook Air with M2 CPU. The device runs macOS Ventura.
However, it will support the new
Sonoma OS, which will be released soon. There’s 2 USB-C Thunderbolt ports on the left side and a headphones jack on the right side. As well as the MagSafe 3 charging port on the left side. The version I have here is the 16GB of RAM.
However, the base model comes with 8GB of RAM. The storage starts from 256GB up to 2TB. It supports WiFi 6 and bluetooth 5.3
The webcam is FHD with FaceTime support. The camera supports the face tracking feature with certain apps.
The laptop comes with 6 speakers located under the keyboard. It supports Dolby Atmos, but the content itself my support it as well.
The device comes with a 35W charger in the box. However, Apple released a new 70W charger that can be bought separately.
The USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 4 and 40Gbps transfer speeds.
The price starts from 1599,91 USD gays!🤑
This device is one of the lightest 15″ laptops. The battery lasts for 18h, which is fantastic.
Having a fingerprint sensor is great for privacy, and the speakers provide very good audio performance. But I wished that it came with more ports, especially the HDMI port.
Having only two ports means that you’ll have to use adapters again,
which is a problem, because the ports are right next to the MagSafe port.
😇 I think Apple has paved the way for a new category with this device. This 15″ version will be great for most users. And for users who need a 15″ device that can be used on the go.
The weight is great, although it is not the lightest 15″ laptop. But it is the lightest 15″ MacBook Air.
This device could be great for users who require lots of performance for editing. Apple has now a huge catalog of devices. They have now the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac, Mac Studio, and the Mac Pro.
Apple now has lots of choice, starting from products for regular users, to products for professionals.
Evaluate your needs before you made a decision 🫣😎.
See you later guys! 😍
